Welcome to WildSecrets , today we goin to share with you a great story of A Paralyzed Puppy how Drags Herself Across Botswana.

There is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing an abandoned dog, and when that dog is injured, it becomes imperative to ensure that the puppy is safe.

Now imagine if you had simply found this injured dog in Botswana.

Botswana may be a country in South Africa where the water is limited and the climate is really dry and desert like. As if that wasn't difficult enough, it is also home to some of the most dangerous animals on the planet!

These include lions, cheetahs, wild dogs and rhinos.

This is no place for an abandoned dog.

But luckily, this little dog was in the right place at the right time.
A team of volunteers for a project called Eco Exist worked in the northern Okavango region of remote Botswana.

The aims of the project are to reduce conflict and promote coexistence between elephants and other people. Susanne Vogel and her team therefore certainly did not expect to find a stray dog in their search.

But shockingly, this is exactly what happened.

The researchers could not believe it when at one point a paralyzed puppy dragged itself to its remote camp. The poor little thing named Poppy was terribly injured and desperately needed help.

She had discovered the team of volunteers and courageously approached them desperately asking for help.

It was a mystery how this little wonder girl had survived until then in an environment full of deadly predators. The volunteer knew that he had to act now, said Susanne,

"She came crawling - literally crawling because her hind legs were completely immobilized - into our research camp. She was not able to lead, but she was filled with love and was looking for help".

Look at the way she sits, with her legs crossed like a human!

The volunteers examined Poppy's injuries and concluded that she must have been the victim of an accident that brutally crushed her spine and completely paralyzed her lower half.

They cleaned and fed her and probably showed her more love than any other person has done in a long time. The volunteers then put Poppy in her car and took her to the nearest vet.

It was a tense moment when they realized that she would survive or not, but despite the probably unprecedented pain, brave Poppy could not help but smile.

The vets discovered that little Poppy was only about seven months old. They said her survival rate was very low. But the volunteers knew that Poppy was special.

She was a fighter.

Poppy began rehab exercises to strengthen her hind legs.

Surprisingly, the volunteers were able to
more than $10,000 that could be used to help your special little fighter feel stronger and hopefully survive.

After long therapy Poppy could now stand on her own four legs for a few seconds. What a wonderful transformation.

She visited the vets again, but unfortunately they told her that Poppy's spine could not be operated.

But since she has been undergoing therapy, Poppy shows no signs of pain - and that's the most important thing.

The clever girl has been equipped with her own set of wheels to help her on her way. Just look how she is doing!

Things were getting better, and that's not all. Poppy was about to be adopted!

MaryBeth Hastings from Washington, D.C. decided that she loved Poppy so much that she would take her back to the States with her.

The little puppy now shares a loving home with the Hastings family and leads a life radically different from the one we are used to.

We are so happy that Poppy has finally had her happy ending.
